Certain plants, like black walnuts, Douglas firs, junipers, maples, and spruces, are sensitive to neem oil, which can burn and damage their foliage. Other sensitive plants include impatiens, fuchsia, hibiscus, roses, carnations, and those with textured leaves, like calatheas, where oil coverage is less effective. Ferns, with their delicate leaves, cacti and succulents, which have special adaptations for dry conditions, and orchids, prized for their flowers, can also be harmed by neem oil, which may block pores or leave unsightly residue.
