Frank Epperson was just 11 years old when he stumbled upon the creation of the Popsicle. After mixing water and powdered soda, he accidentally left the mixture outside overnight. The next morning, it had frozen—with a wooden stir stick still in it. Realizing what he’d made, Epperson began selling his creation, first calling them "Epsicles," before his children renamed them "Pop’sicles." He later patented the treat, though he eventually sold the rights and never saw the financial success from it.
