Ingress Mobile Game Review

If you've been paying interest in the news series, you've possibly heard that Google—by way of the ambiguous "Niantic Labs"—unconfined a game of some type.

You saw a trailer that portrayed people finding concealed energy fields within statues, landmarks, and artistic sculptures. You had no notion what was going on. You signed up for an invite anyhow, because, like any other strange Google product, you want despite what it is.

Well, I got my invite a few days ago, and I'm happy to tell you, it's worth it.

To say that Ingress is remarkable would be an understatement. While it seems like a comparatively easy concept, and perhaps even downright ordinary to players of MMORPGs, it's something that could only be done by Google, and goes far beyond merely a game.

The point of Ingress is to get you out of the house and discovering your city. It's trying to get you to cooperate with strangers who have parallel interests, and eventually, to find creativeness and inquisitiveness.

And it does so without being boring or convincing you to do a lot of reading or homework. All Ingress does is get you to set off places. From there, it depends on you.

Once you begin up Ingress for the first time, you'll be taken through a sequence of training exercises. You'll study several things, but here are the fundamentals: there are portals spread around the world. Your job is to hunt them and 'hack' them.

You do this by getting within series of the said portal, choosing it, and tapping 'hack' in the options. Most actions are attained through this similar menu and likewise wants you to be near your target.

Once the primary hacking is done, you can obtain a variety of items, containing a Portal Key (more on that in a bit), resonators, and a few extra things I'll get to later. Resonators are the large ones.

You need to furnish each portal with eight resonators to link it to others. The point of the game is to produce "fields" out of three or more portals your section controls that outline the perimeter of an area under your guard.

It seems a little intimidating at first, but the training exercises will walk you through it all. Once you're in-game and prepared to get started, there will also be some people around to assist.

Part of the petition of this game is that it is completely social. You're not just playing with a set of your friends, or people in your area. This is a single, worldwide game where everyone is taking part.

If you've ever spent any time with an MMO, you're probably well-known with this concept, though even there, more often than not, you're alienated by different servers. Here, if you've unlocked up Ingress, you're on with everyone.

Ingress Mobile Game Functions

The chat function is rather odd and somewhat complicated to use. There is a sliding scale that enables you to view messages on a local (20km), regional (200km), or global (unlimited) range.

Also, you can put out to everyone playing the game, or just your faction (more on that in a bit, again). The benefit here is that you can work together with people from all over your city, state, or country. The disadvantage is you can never really be completely sure who you're talking to.

Yes, this game doesn't use the camera to cover stuff in the real world. It does something better. It augments something to your real-life that goes beyond the gyroscope. Ingress is a real experience.
